What better way to unwind after a long day than a relaxing bath filled with your favourite aromas. Essential oil baths are so nourishing and there are endless combinations of oils you can use. If you want to take your bath to the next level follow these tips to get the most out of your soak in the tub.
Add Your Essential Oils to a Carrier Oil or Milk
Milk. I know that sounds strange, but adding your essential oils directly to the bath doesn’t allow them to spread out effectively, and often speeds the evaporation process.
When you put your essential oils in a tablespoon of milk, it acts as a carrier oil and helps distribute the delightful scents, helping them last longer.
You can also use a simple carrier oil. Just add your essential oils to your jojoba, olive oil or sweet almond oil to give your skin some extra moisture.
Ease Muscle Tension
For the ultimate relaxing bath, when your sore muscles are practically screaming at you, I like to add 2 cups of epsom salts along with 5 drops of eucalyptus, 5 drops of peppermint, and 5 drops of cinnamon essential oils, diluted in a carrier oil.
These essential oils have a relaxing effect while also helping to soothe tired muscles and energise your body even when you feel totally zapped.
Relax to the Max
Classic lavender essential oil is the perfect addition to a bath before bedtime. But, there are a few other essential oils that might help you get into sleepy zone, alongside some beeswax candles. Roman Chamomile, Vetiver, Marjoram, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang and Spikenard all help to induce relaxation.
After a nice hot bath, when your pores are open, give yourself a nice massage. Add a few drops of the relaxing oils listed above to some sweet almond or coconut oil and rub it all over your skin for a nice treat. The scents will stick with you for a while and keep that post-bath calmness for hours.
